Preparing for your Colon Cleanse
Serving the Ft. Myers, Bonita Springs, Naples and Marco Island areas
This colon hydrotherapy preparation guide is designed to support a comfortable, relaxing, and effective colon cleanse while promoting digestive health and overall wellness before your appointment at Riverstone Spa & Shoppe in Southwest Florida.
Preparing for your session | 2-3 Days Prior
To prepare your body for the most comfortable and beneficial session, we recommend the following:
-
Avoid carbonated beverages and focus on staying well hydrated with plenty of water.
-
Limit gas-producing foods such as legumes, hummus, broccoli, raw kale, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, corn, and cabbage.
-
Reduce intake of processed and heavy foods, including breads, sweets, and dairy products (such as ice cream and cheese).
-
Discontinue all protein powders, shakes, and bars during this time. Even plant-based proteins can be difficult to digest and may contribute to sluggish elimination.
2 Hours Prior to Your Colon Hydrotherapy Session
To ensure a comfortable and effective experience:
-
Avoid eating during the 2 hours leading up to your session, unless a medical condition requires otherwise.
-
Limit fluid intake. Small sips of water are fine if needed.
-
Refraining from food and drink helps ensure greater comfort during your session, as gentle abdominal massage is most effective on an empty stomach and bladder.

What to Expect After Your Colon Hydrotherapy Session
Most clients experience a sense of lightness, clarity, and overall well-being following their session. It’s common to feel refreshed, more energized, and less bloated, with a noticeable sense of physical and mental ease.
Because each body responds differently, some clients may notice mild, temporary effects as the digestive system adjusts. These can include slight fatigue, headache, or changes in bowel patterns. Staying well hydrated and continuing to nourish your body with light, wholesome foods can help support this transition.
Bowel Movements After Your Session
It is normal to experience a brief delay in bowel movements following your session, followed by a return to more regular, comfortable elimination. In some cases, especially if the colon is sluggish, it may take a few days for normal patterns to resume.
Simple Ways to Support Your Body After Your Session
-
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to support digestion and overall wellness. -
Replenish Gut Flora
Consider a high-quality, dairy-free probiotic to support a healthy digestive balance. -
Eat Light, Nourishing Foods
Focus on easily digestible, whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, broths, and healthy fats. -
Gentle Movement & Rest
Light activity like walking, along with adequate rest, can help your body rebalance naturally. -
Warm Baths
Epsom salt baths can be a relaxing way to support overall comfort. -
Lemon Water
Adding fresh lemon to water may help support hydration and digestion.
A Gentle Reminder
Be patient with your body as it adjusts. Everyone’s experience is unique, and giving yourself time to rest, reset, and nourish will support the best overall results.
